Long Weekend of Golf

Last weekend I and 11 other co-workers took a trip up to Tanglewood Resorts near Lake Texoma to play a weekend of golf. It was supposed to be 108 holes of golf which ended up being only 83.

We started Friday morning. We all met at 6AM at the IHOP in McKinney for breakfast. Then headed up to the course for our first round of golf at 9AM. I sucked bad that round. When that round was over, we had an hour break and started our second round. I practiced on the driving range before that round and my drive got better. Still a bad round though.

That night we went to the Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma. I went straight to the poker room and sat down at a $1/$2 no-limit holdem table. I was up about $10 when the rest of the guys decided we needed to head back. I wanted to stay, but the transportation situation wouldn’t allow it.

We woke up on Saturday ready to start our first round at 8AM. I shot slightly better during this round. By the way, the greens at this place sucked. There were a couple of greens that were ok, but most were patched up pieces of dog poop. Well, after that round, a lot of the guys decided they were golfed out and didn’t feel like playing the second round that day. We bitched slapped them into playing, but only got through 9 holes. We ended up playing a couple of playoff holes, but we didn’t play a complete round.

That night we played some poker with the 10 of us. $20 buy-in, holdem tourney. Yes, I won, of course. Well, I split with the second place guy just so we could go to bed and get ready for our last two rounds of golf on Sunday. I made $100 for that.

We started our first round at 8AM on Sunday. Finished that, but decided to call it quits and head home. We stopped and had lunch, then I got back to my car and got home around 6:30PM.

It was fun. I learned that I really need some golf lessons though.
